Gilroy: Clash over car theft ends in fatal shooting GILROY — A Gilroy man who confronted a person attempting to steal his car was shot dead Tuesday morning and a suspect was later arrested after a police chase, police said.Officers found the 33-year-old with an apparent gunshot wound in his chest at about 12:24 a.m. on the 1300 block of Pheasant Drive, according to a press release. Police were called to the block on a report of a hit-and-run.Authorities said the victim was shot after confronting a suspect in the act of stealing his car. The suspect allegedly shot the victim during the confrontation and fled in the victim’s vehicle. (KRON) -- The Gilroy Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place early Tuesday morning after the suspect shot a man while trying to steal his car, GPD said. Officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run on the 1300 block of Pheasant Drive just after midnight, officials said. (KRON) -- A traffic stop early Tuesday morning in San Mateo led to the arrest of a felon allegedly driving under the influence and possession of a gun, according to the San Mateo Police Department.
